Coping with My Flaws

Golden Nugget: You are not perfect—yet. You will sin at times and will struggle to mature until your last day on earth. But God still loves you.

Daily Message:

As we’ve discussed, you became a new person when you received God’s grace and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. But you are not perfect—yet. You will sin at times and will struggle to mature until your last day on earth. James, the brother of Jesus, knew this when he said, “We all stumble in many ways.”

No man or woman—not even the most experienced and faithful Christian—is sinless. Only Jesus lived his life on earth without sin. You will at times be angry, lustful, jealous, and unloving. You will make mistakes.

The Bible is full of examples of true believers who made major mistakes. But they put those errors behind them and continued to mature in their relationship with Christ. Even when they failed, they still remained part of God’s family. And so do you. A child of God is not disowned for disobedience. Our sins are the very reason Jesus came to die!

Consider This:

  • In what area of your life do you most fear failing?
  • Who or what can help you overcome your fear?

Take Action:

Face your fears. Pray that God would help you resist your greatest temptations and help you experience his grace when you fail. Talk to someone who you know follows Christ about their failures and successes. Write down what you learn.
